Thresh was the male tribute from District 11 for the 74th Hunger Games. He is described as bigger than a lot of the other tributes, and during the Games he went off to the wheat fields, in the opposite direction of Katniss Everdeen, so the two didn't interact much throughout the Games.
However Katniss did ally with Thresh's district partner Rue, which ended up saving her life. When the remaining tributes (Thresh, Katniss, Peeta Mellark, Cato, Clove and Foxface) were called to a Feast near the end of the Games Clove had Katniss at her mercy, and had been planning on killing her. However she said something nasty about Rue, attracting Thresh's attention. He killed Clove, and upon verifying with Katniss that she had indeed helped Rue, he let her go out of a feeling of obligation. He then took his bag and Cato's (since Clove was then dead) and left.
After this Katniss felt like she owed Thresh, and told Peeta at one point that if neither of them won the Games she wanted Thresh to. However, though no details are given it is known that Thresh died at the hands of Cato, the other tribute from District 2. Thresh was the fourth last tribute left, and the second last to die during the Games.
